4-H Fitness and Nutrition Programs

Connecticut Fitness and Nutrition Clubs In Motion, is a 4-H Afterschool program designed to reduce obesity rates in children ages 9 to 14, through sustainable interventions surrounding food and fitness. The program is a partnership grant of UConn Extension. Youth in this program:

  • Learn about healthy food choices
  • Grow healthy food
  • Have fun, grow healthy, and get fit

CT FANs IM, was modeled after the original 4-H FANs Fitness and Nutrition Clubs, a USDA Children, Youth and Families at Risk (CYFAR) Program.

This project was supported by Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Competitive Grant Award No 2012-68001-19956 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
