Our Goal

UConn 4-H seeks support of the UConn People Empowering People (PEP) Youth program, an innovative personal and community development initiative designed for teens. Grounded in the belief that young people thrive when they feel connected, valued, and capable of shaping their futures, UConn PEP Youth builds on the unique strengths and life experiences of each participant.

Why Support Now

  • Research shows that young people need to feel a sense of belonging and purpose to thrive (Search Institute, 2018).
  • UConn PEP Youth is more than a leadership program—it’s a framework that emphasizes the connection between individual empowerment and collective action.
  • At its core, the program challenges youth to reflect on who they are, where they come from, and how they can make a difference.

          Funding Priorities

          1. Community Projects

          • Hands-on experiences in civic engagement that encourage teens to work collaboratively with their cohort and build a shared vision for positive change.
          • Participants identify community needs, design responses, and carry out action plans, all while growing in confidence and capability.
          • These experiences offer young people a tangible way to see themselves as change-makers and leaders, fostering a strong sense of connection and purpose.

              2. Curriculum Development

              • Support curriculum delivery, facilitator training, program materials, transportation for youth-led community projects, and stipends for youth leaders.
              • Your investment in UConn PEP Youth will directly support the development of resilient, engaged young people equipped to lead in their communities now and in the future.
