"A Legacy of Lasting Support"

The 4-H Centennial Fund is an endowed account that plays a vital role providing long range support to UConn 4-H allowing us to fulfill the mission of assisting youth throughout Connecticut ages 5-18, in acquiring skills in Leadership, STEM, Healthy Living and Workforce Development.  

As the youth development program of UConn Extension, 4-H provides participants ages 5-18 with research-backed, age-appropriate knowledge, equipping them with the tools to reach their full potential. UConn 4-H has offered programs in Connecticut for over 120 years, with alumni excelling in leadership roles worldwide.

    How Donations Have Helped

    Donations to the 4-H Centennial Fund have provided critical support for various initiatives that directly benefit youth and volunteers across the state, including but not limited to: 

    • Z Suite Software License: Facilitating online engagement and project management for 4-H youth and volunteers. 
    • 4-H STEM Library Kits: Providing hands-on learning tools that inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
    • CPR Training: Equipping volunteers and teens with life-saving skills that enhance their ability to lead safely and responsibly.
    • 4-H Day at the Capitol: Offering youth the opportunity to learn about civic engagement and their role as active members of their communities.
    • Public Speaking Awards: Encouraging youth to develop confidence and communication skills through public speaking competitions.  
    • Volunteer Awards & Recognition: Acknowledging the invaluable contributions of 4-H volunteers with awards and tokens of appreciation for their efforts on the county and state levels.
    • 4-H Horse Roundup: Providing partial trip expenses for youth participating in the 4-H Horse Roundup, a key event in fostering teamwork and responsibility.
    • Newsletter & 4-H Calendar: Keeping the 4-H community informed and engaged with printed newsletters and calendars that highlight program milestones and opportunities.

    The 4-H Development Fund empower youth across the state to participate in life-changing leadership programs at both Statewide and National levels. These experiences foster personal growth, build essential skills, and inspire the today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders.

    As the youth development program of UConn Extension, 4-H provides participants ages 5-18 with research-backed, age-appropriate knowledge, equipping them with the tools to reach their full potential. UConn 4-H has nearly 22,500 youth engaged in programming across our State. Now more than ever, our youth need your support to THRIVE in our programs.

    How Donations Have Helped

    Donations to the 4-H Development Fund have provided critical support for various trips that directly benefit youth &  volunteers across the state, including but not limited to: 

    • National 4-H CWF: Youth from around the nation will gather to have meaningful discussions and learn the skills they need to lead their communities and become change agents to build a brighter future.
    • Ignite by 4-H: Youth learn from quality speakers in the areas of Agriscience, STEM, Healthy Living & Community Accelerators.
    • National 4-H Conference: The flagship youth development opportunity of USDA, hosted by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Delegates will become familiar with the government and share their voice with federal agencies and congressional committees.

    Bi-annually National 4-H partners with local Tractor Supplies to provide funding to our programs. Together, Tractor Supply and 4-H have raised more than $24 million for the nation’s youth. The fundraiser, now in its 15th year, strengthens educational programs for 4-H members to engage in hands-on career and life skill projects, participate in leadership and public speaking training, learn from industry leaders and develop the skills necessary to take on leadership roles.
